Ways to help

Find your place.

Whatever you’re good at, there’s a part of the work that needs it.

Why volunteer

What you give, and what you get.

  • Your name on their story

Volunteers are credited on the profiles they help bring to life, for anyone who reads them.

  • Real research skills

Learn to find, weigh and cite sources, from interviews and books to news reports and records.

  • A reference when you need one

After three months of volunteering, we’ll gladly write you a letter of reference.

  • Work from anywhere

Everything happens online, in your own time. An hour a month still makes a difference.

  • People who care

Join researchers, writers and students around the world who believe these lives should be remembered.

  • Something that lasts

A profile you help write will be read for years: by students, by families, by people meeting Palestine for the first time.

What we ask

  • Care with facts, and honesty about what you don’t know
  • Respect for the people we write about, and their families
  • A little time, whenever you can give it
How would you like to help?

Choose as many as you like.

How much time could you give? (optional)

Anything that would help: what you do, what you’ve done, the languages you read.

We only use your details to get in touch about volunteering.

Questions

Before you ask.

Do I need experience?

No. Care and curiosity matter more than a CV. We’ll show you how we research, write and check a profile.

Is it paid?

No. Faces of Palestine is free for everyone to read, and it’s made by volunteers who give their time.

Do I need to live in Palestine?

Not at all. Volunteers can be anywhere in the world. All you need is an internet connection.

Do I need to read Arabic?

No. The site is in English. Reading Arabic is a real help for research, but plenty of the work doesn’t need it.

How much time does it take?

As much as you can give. Some volunteers help with one profile a season; others a few hours each week.

Can I stop whenever I like?

Of course. Just let us know, so we can pass your work on to someone else.
