A living hub for the people of Palestine — those who shaped it, and those who stood with it.

Privacy

Your privacy, plainly.

What we collect, why we collect it, who helps us run the site, and how to ask us to change or delete your information.

Last updated 20 October 2026

The short version

  • You can read every profile without an account, and we don’t show ads.
  • We only collect what you choose to send us through a form, and we use it to answer you and to improve the profiles.
  • We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use tracking or advertising cookies.
  • You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete what you sent.

What you send us

When you fill in a form, we receive what you type into it:

  • Contact and corrections: your name, email address, the topic, the profile it’s about and your message.
  • Suggesting a profile, or an addition to one: what you tell us about the person, your sources and, if you add one, a photo and who took it. Your own name and email are optional.
  • Volunteering: your name, email address, where you’re based, how you’d like to help and anything else you choose to tell us.

Each submission is emailed to our editors and kept so the team can work through it. We use it only to reply to you, to check and improve the profiles, and to organise volunteers. We never publish your name, email or message without asking you first.

The “Ask about” guide

Profile pages have a guide you can ask questions about the person. To write an answer, your question and the conversation so far are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, together with the profile. We don’t keep these conversations.

Please don’t type personal information about yourself or anyone else into the guide.

On your device

We save a couple of things in your browser, so they’re there when you come back. They stay on your device and are never sent to us:

  • Journeys: which journeys you’ve finished and your score.
  • The suggestion form: a draft of what you’ve typed, so you don’t lose it. Photos aren’t included.

You can clear these at any time from your browser’s settings. We don’t set cookies for visitors. The only cookie the site uses keeps our editors signed in to the editors’ area.

Technical information

Like every website, ours receives some technical information when you visit, such as your IP address and the type of browser you use. Our hosting provider uses it to deliver the pages and to protect the site from attacks.

When you send a form, we briefly use your IP address to limit how many messages can be sent in a short time, which keeps spam out. It isn’t stored with your message.

We don’t currently collect visitor statistics. If we add them, we’ll choose a privacy-friendly service that doesn’t follow you across other sites, and we’ll update this page first.

Who helps us run the site

We work with a small number of services that handle information on our behalf, only to run the site:

  • Vercel hosts the website.
  • Resend delivers form submissions to our editors by email.
  • Supabase stores form submissions and our editors’ work.
  • Anthropic writes the answers in the “Ask about” guide.

Some of these services are based outside the country you live in, including in the United States. We don’t share your information with anyone else, unless the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep form submissions for as long as we need them: until your message has been answered, a suggestion has been looked at, or you stop volunteering with us. Sources and photos that become part of a profile stay with that profile, credited as agreed. You can ask us to delete your submission sooner.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of the information you sent us, to correct it, or to delete it. Write to us through the contact page and we’ll reply as soon as we can.

The profiles on Faces of Palestine are about real people, and are written from published sources. If you are someone we’ve written about, or their family, and something is wrong or you would like something changed, please use Correct a profile. An editor will look at every request. You can read more in How we work.

Children

Faces of Palestine is for everyone to read. If you’re under 16, please ask a parent or guardian before you send us a form.

Changes to this policy

If the way we handle information changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
