Terms of use

Using Faces of Palestine.

The terms for reading and sharing our content, sending us suggestions and photos, and using the “Ask about” guide.

Last updated 20 October 2026

About these terms

These terms apply to everyone who uses Faces of Palestine. By using the site, you agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy, which explains how we handle the information you send us.

The profiles

Every profile is researched from published sources and checked by our editors, as described in How we work. Even so, mistakes happen. The profiles are offered for learning and remembrance, and you shouldn’t rely on them as the only source for anything important.

If you find a mistake, please tell us. We check every correction against sources, and we may change or remove a profile at any time.

Sharing our content

We want these stories to travel. You’re welcome to quote and share the text of the profiles, paths and journeys, as long as you:

  • credit Faces of Palestine and link back to the page you used;
  • don’t change the meaning of what you quote;
  • don’t use it to make money, or in a way that suggests we endorse you, without asking us first.

Photos are different. Many belong to other people and are used under their own licences, which are credited next to each photo. If you want to use a photo, follow the licence shown with it. The Faces of Palestine name and logo can’t be used without our permission.

What you send us

When you send us a suggestion, a correction, a photo or a source, you confirm that:

  • it is true to the best of your knowledge;
  • you took the photo, have permission to share it, or have told us where it came from;
  • it doesn’t include anyone’s private details, or anything hateful or unlawful.

You allow us to use what you send to research, write and illustrate profiles: to edit it, publish it on the site, and credit it in the way we agree with you. We read everything, but we decide what is published, and we may not use every suggestion.

The “Ask about” guide

The guide on profile pages uses AI to answer questions from the profile’s own material. It is clearly labelled, it never speaks as the person, and it can still get things wrong. Check anything important against the sources listed on the profile.

Using the site fairly

Please don’t:

  • try to break, overload or get around the security of the site;
  • send forms automatically, or send spam;
  • copy the site in bulk in a way that slows it down for others;
  • pretend to be someone else when you write to us.

Changes

We keep improving Faces of Palestine, so the site may change, and parts of it may sometimes be unavailable. If we change these terms, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
