Brief bio

Born in Syria, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam was deeply involved in anti-colonial struggles and the fight against Zionist movements in the Levant.
After fleeing from French rule in Syria, he settled in British mandate Palestine, where he rallied the lower classes, especially landless farmers, against British and Jewish forces.
He founded the Black Hand, a militant organization, and led numerous attacks and acts of sabotage.
His death during a confrontation with British forces turned him into a symbol of resistance and martyrdom.
