Their story

Ahmad Sa'adat, known as Abu Ghassan, was born in al-Bireh in 1953 and trained as a mathematics teacher. He has been imprisoned by Israel many times since the 1960s.

He became Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in 2001, after Israel killed his predecessor Abu Ali Mustafa, and was elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council in 2006. Held first by the Palestinian Authority in Jericho, he was seized when Israel stormed the prison in 2006, and has been in Israeli prison ever since.
